Going to bootcamp: Day 1
This is amazing!!!
Inhala exhala. Day one has come. Day one is done. I have met my cohort and my instructors. I like them a lot!!
I am not other. I'm in a group of amazing smart women learning lots of new things. We have similar likes, similar fears and ultimately similar goals. The journey we are on will be enriched by each of our contributions and I know already that we will have a lot of fun.
We have been implored to be the most innocent person in the room, to be comfortable being the idiot, to ask that "dumb" question we have. Because "but why" makes us smarter, makes us dig deeper, makes us better programmers.
I love the emphasis of being comfortable in our vulnerability. I love the safe space that has been fostered and the excitement of all my peers.
Together we will build up our knowledge and confidence in all these new concepts. We will layer blocks of information on others to understand the structures yet unknown. It is an exciting prospect to take this leap with such a diverse group of women. I just can't wait.
The road ahead will be 6 weeks of Junior Phase and week's break for review and another 6 weeks of Senior Phase. My days will include daily CodeWars to practice concepts and techniques, lectures, workshops, assessments in Junior Phase. Then hackathons, projects, advanced curriculum, a "CTO program", guest speakers, job search and more.
To say the least, I'll be super busy for the foreseeable future.
We have an assessment tomorrow on where we are now given our 4weeks of Foundations for the past month.
My GitHub is well fed these days. With this, I am well pleased. Lots of practice to do tonight. Let the games begin.
